03:58 pm - Anžej Dežan
Since I'm miffed that not enough people heard this song...

If you haven't heard Slovenia's wonderful Eurovision entry (if you liked Diva by Dana International I think you'll like this too) go to:

http://www.anzej.com/

Click on "Mr Nobody" and then click on the first link on the page and you can download the mp3.

10:14 am - Well done Finland
...but Slovenia was ROBBED! Robbed, I tell you - I can't believe they didn't even get enough votes to get into the final. The song is fantastic and Anzej Dezan is firstly rather adorable and secondly SUPER camp which surely should have secured Slovenia a top 10 place. If second place had gone to someone with a less bland and boring song than Russia's entry then I might be more forgiving.

I was pretty impressed with Tina Karol (Ukraine) too.

10:41 am - Kick ass!
I didn't say anything about this in advance because of what happened last time, but I had my Body Combat module this last couple of weeks. The assessment was on Saturday and I passed! All I have to do now is film myself teaching a class and send it off for assessment so that I can get my certificate.

:)

Has nobody clocked that putting in your home postcode with the word "home" next to it, and having it turn into a link with a map TO YOUR HOUSE might be a bad idea? (I'm sure I'm not the first to mention this, but I'm rather worried at the number of entries on my friends list that include this information!)

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but combined with all the personal stuff many people post on their journals, isn't this just screaming out to be abused?

05:57 pm - Wonderful website
I've found a fabulous site.

http://www.smartandsassy.net/

The premise is thus: three smart, sassy women answer your questions. The questions range from the inane to the insanely complex, and the responses range from the smart and sassy to...oh. Well, go look.

Thanks to everyone who left messages of congratulations on my last post. I'll reply to them all eventually! On my way out just now, but just a quickie for all you Firefly fans:

http://www.fireflyseason2.com/

You never know, it could happen - fill in the survey and tell them how much you'd be willing to pay per episode for Firefly on demand!

10:17 am - Car accident
My car is finally ready (yes, it has taken nearly two months to fix it - it'd better be up to scratch!) so I phoned the insurance company to see if they could waive the excess and sure enough, they can't because the other guy reckons the circumstances were "a bit different". Apparently he hasn't submitted this to his insurers in writing yet (after nearly two months? FFS) so we don't get to know what these "different" circumstances actually are - and I have to pay £200 to get my car back.

I'm going to have a look at it this morning and see if it's really ready. I've heard some horror stories from neighbours who've had their cars worked on by this particular company.

10:40 pm - Car accident, again
It's been pointed out to me that I haven't told you what happened, so here it is basically: I was driving along a main road. Blokey was driving along on the other side coming towards me. He decided to turn into the side road to my left. Sadly he neglected to check whether there was anything in his way and drove into the side of my car.

05:16 pm - Car accident stuff
On Wednesday (yeah I know, I don't update this very regularly do I?) I got a call from the car hire place who've provided my courtesy vehicle. The deal was thus: Tesco insurance (my insurers) paid for my car hire for the first 14 days, and after that any costs were to be covered by the third party insurers. However, it turns out that the third party only just filed the claim with their insurers, and haven't filled in any paperwork yet, so they won't cover anything.

I gave the car hire people the number to call the third party directly, which they did. They promptly got an earful and were told that under no circumstances would the third party admit liability and that everything from now on must go through their insurance company.

This means that I have had to pay for my hire car, so I took it back on Thursday. They were very nice about it, but there's nothing they can do. I phoned Tesco who are chasing the other insurance company and have also written directly to the third party telling them to hurry the hell up. However, they have three months in which to chase the third party, so they're in no hurry.

I spoke to my lawyer today and she really leapt into action. Her firm have already written to the witness who was standing at the bus stop when it all happened, and she's sent back her statement which completely supports my version of events (thank god!) so the lawyers have faxed it to the third party insurers with a note to say "surely you're not going to dispute this?". They've also organised a car for me, which was delivered at lunchtime today - a 4 door Smart! Very nice.

Hopefully we will get an admission of liability before my car is fixed and I have to pay the excess on the policy to get it back!

12:36 pm - SQUEE!
I've just taught my own class for the very first time (the other class I'm teaching is cover for someone's maternity leave, but this one is my very own permanent class, so it's a bigger deal). One of the regulars who was coming to the class every week when it was taught by the very talented and extremely qualified Lynn (previous instructor) came up to me at the end and told me it was, and I quote, an "excellent class" and they all wanted to know what other classes I did so they could come along.

So I feel squeeing is justified, even though I'm not generally given to squeeing.

EDIT: AND! I already have a little following of people who came on Wednesday and enjoyed it so much (ha!) that they got up on a Sunday morning JUST TO COME TO MY CLASS.

11:45 am - Diet and exercise filters
I deleted the other journal I had because I just wasn't using it. It's too much hassle to log in and out just to post that I lost a pound. I'm going to create a weight loss/nutrition filter instead. Comment here to let me know if you want to be on it because since I'm too cheap to buy a paid account, I can't make polls.

12:17 am - JCB song
Have you heard the JCB song? I have managed to completely miss it until now but I've just seen the video and it bowled me over.

Check it out!

If you haven't heard about it here is a line from an article about it: "The track, a heartwarming ditty about a boy riding on his father's mechanical digger to escape bullies at school, is being hailed as a welcome antidote to manufactured pop and the real people's choice this Christmas."

10:37 pm - Car accident
So I was in a car accident and now I can't do my Body Combat module or teach aerobics. And I'm going to be all emo about it and if you don't like it you can fuck off.

Edit: my usual tactic when I'm this angry would be to get out Slam Man and punch his lights out (literally, ho ho). But I can't do that either.

Edit again: don't worry, nothing is broken except my car.
